Reflections
“In the pond, there were these groups of fences in the water. They were either keeping in something or keeping out something. When I first saw the fences, there were Asian Carp jumping all around it.” Megan Nguyen, Human Impact (said about Riverlands)

Ellis Island (Mississippi Riverlands): Conclusion
This site study was very interesting because it was a large area but with limited plant and animal species. You would think that a big environment like this would be full of diversity, but this was not the case. Ellis Island had most of it’s thicker vegetation around the edges of the island and grassier areas in the center. Zoology had the hardest time during this site study because the only animals they could find and identify where different types of insects. The only man made things that were there, were the pebble filled trails and a bird watching fence. We did find some magnetic rocks mixed in the the pebbles which is definitely from human impact. This area was known for their asian carp (an invasive species of fish) but we saw very few. Ellis Island was a large area with few wildlife species from what we saw.
