SCIENTIFIC DISCOVERIES: FONTANA LAKE

Zoology:

  • Fish jumping
  • Fish bones
  • Insects
  • Turtle shell
  • Scavengers (vultures, and raccoons)
  • Animal prints
  • The fish can’t live in fontana because they drain it every year
  • Osprey

 

Data Analysis:

  • Human impact
  • Healthy water
  • The animals adapted well
  • In the making of the dam there was probably a lot of damage made on the habitats of animals

 

Botany:

  • Very little vegetation because the plants have not had a lot of time to adapt
  • The roots have to adapt to the clay like gravel they have to grown in

 

Human Impact:

  • Lingering smell of gas
  • Found a lot of alcohol bottles
  • Man-made
  • Debris
  • Under it used to be a copper mine
  • 42 pieces of trash
  • Lake houses
  • Water Was teel
  • Erosion
  • Parking lots
  • The shore was really steep
  • The giant rocks that were put there
  • Bottle full of lighter fluid

 

Fontana Lake:

  • Couldn’t test soil
  • Water was 1q2
  • turbidity and the phosphorus was 1 ppm
  • pneumonia wa s1 less than 5 ppa nitrates

 

Geology:

  • All of the rocks were really flakey and had layers

 

Meteorology:

  • Rain water fills the lake
  • Windy in some areas, in open areas
