T rescue practice

For our first field eco day outside of class we didn’t do a sight study, instead we practiced a T rescue with our canoes. To unflip a canoe that’s flipped in the water, you need to unflip in with the T rescue. The T rescue is when you get another canoe that’s not flipped, and put the upside down canoe on the other canoe making a t. You then drag the canoe onto the other making an x. The two people on the unflipped canoe flip the swamped canoe over, and put it back into the water. They then hold the canoe in place so that the canoers in the water can get back in the canoe.

Intro to Field eco

For our first day we not only practiced a t rescue, but we were also introduced to the environment. We talked about the environments and what there was in ours. We then scratched the surface on the topic of adaptations, talking about how one thing cannot exist without the other. We were then given nets and were shown how to use them. We then used nets and bottles to catch plankton. This was the very beginning of not only our adaptations project, but also our soon to come jobs.
