Reflections of Labarque Creek

“Overall the site wasn’t as clean as Labarque. There was much more trash around the site. This place has heavily been impacted by humans.” Megan, Human Impact  (talking about Young Conservation Area)

“Erosion is happening on the creek banks and is causing the stream to get bigger and the trees are falling into the water which may be causing the discoloration  of the rocks.” Audrey, Data Analysis (Said about Young Conservation Area)

Labarque: Conclusion

Labarque was a really cool area to make observations on, but since it was everyone’s first site study, it was a bit unorganized and only a few people knew exactly what they were doing. Zoology found lots of cool animals like shiners (fish), box turtles, and crawfish that they later saw in other areas. The whole area was mostly impacted by TCS, but not in any bad ways. There were just bridges, trails, etc. There was hardly any trash or pollution. The ph was perfect which means it’s a great area for wildlife to be. The little rocks all around the creek could be crushed up into sand very easily which affects what plants grow where. So less plants grew closer to the creek because of how sandy the soil was. More vegetation grew up the hill and further away from water.
